We are busy finishing up the American Revolution. This week your children learned about Valley Forge, the southern battles, the battle of Yorktown, and the Treaty of Paris. We read a play about Valley Forge to learn about the trials and tribulations of Washington’s Continental Army. On Friday, a press conference was held to explain the Treaty of Paris and other outcomes of the American REvolution. A special thanks to King George (Halle), Benjamin Franklin (Colette), George Washington (Zander), and John Jay (Desirae). They all did a great job representing their characters and point of view at the press conference!
Writing
This week students were given 90 minutes in class to complete the final of their Strange and Mysterious story. On Monday(2/13), the final draft is due so that we can start the production of the stories.

Last Week: Chapter 4 and Semester 1 Exam should have been completed last week.
This week: Sections 5.1-5.2 Notes & HW
This past week was yet another “off-week” since we had no school on Monday. However, we did have mini-lessons on sections 4.3, 4.4, and 4.5. Most students are completed with or near the end of Chapter 4. They should have finished up with Chapter 4 and the Semester Exam last week, so if they are not quite there yet, my encouragement is to stay in at lunch or after school sometime to make up lost time. Chapter 4 was all about functions, and the new chapter to be starting this week is specifically focusing on slope and linear functions. This week’s mini-lessons will be finishing up Chapter 4 with mini-lessons on 4.6 and 4.7. The following week will be more into Chapter 5.
I’ve reminded students of this, but they are allowed to stay after school or in at lunch with me most days, just like other students are able to. I think they sometimes think they shouldn’t need to, since they are in REACH, but everyone needs extra help or time to work at some point!
Algebra
Last Week: 7.4-7.6 Lessons and the Mid-Unit Quiz should have been completed.
This week: Finishing Chapter 7 and take test on Friday. Start 8.1!
This past week was yet another “off-week” since we had no school on Monday. However, we did have mini-lessons on sections 5.8, 6.1, and 6.3. Most students are completed with Chapter 6 and the Semester Exam already, but for those students who are not yet to that point, they must be there by Friday or will have to stay in at lunch next week to catch up. The current Chapter, Chapter 7, is all about exponents, their properties, and different operations/functions you can use exponents for. This week’s mini-lessons will be finishing up Chapter 6 with mini-lessons on 6.3, 6.4, and 6.5-6.6. The following week will be more into Chapter 7.
