Humanities
On Tuesday, two groups presented the debate about ratification. The other students were the audience and voted, based on the arguments, if they would’ve sided with the Federalists or Anti-federalists. The Anti-federalists won by 1 vote! Our US Constitution would not have passed in our class. All students participated in this event and learned the main arguments for and against the Constitution as well as propaganda techniques.
This week we completed the narrative productions and shared them in class on Friday. A special thank you to those who were part of the audience and could make the “Red Carpet” event. Although your children were nervous, they were proud of their final work and eager to share. It was a true celebration of the learning they have done to get to this point.
As we move forward this week, students will begin meetings with me on Friday to show me their final artifact for the “Time Capsule” project. They will show me what they have accomplished and we will have a discussion about the next steps. If necessary, I will let them know what needs to be added or changed so that they can make sure to have this completed next week. When we return from spring break, we will practice their presentations in class before the presentation at the library. Please join us that day if you are able.
Time Capsule Community Project
Please join us to celebrate the community of Waterford through the eyes of an 8th grader. Students have worked to create an artifact to be encapsulated for 25 years. On this day, the students will do a presentation explaining the rationale and the artifact. We hope you can be part of this event! Use the link below to RSVP.

Math
This last we did not have a ton of new things going on with math, due to Forward Testing Monday through Wednesday and the red-carpet event for Humanities on Friday. We did, however, make time for a heated review game of Trashketball for Chapter 5 in Math 8. The pacing guides on moodle will be slightly adjusted to reflect all the testing that has been taking place and will take place in the near future for MAPs. Otherwise, we’re coming down the home-stretch with quarter 4 starting last week!
March Madness Movie Tournament
The past couple of weeks, students have had some March Madness fun in their math classes. The math teachers created a 64 team bracket of popular movies, and students were able to fill out the bracket by picking their favorites for each match-up. The whole school then has been voting for each round every couple of days and then the students get to see how their bracket matched up with how the school voted. We are currently in the Final 4 round and will be finishing up before Spring break. The student with the best bracket in the end will receive a prize!
